Fifteen-year-old Hayden Bicknese is excited to announce that he will be back on the grid in 2022, competing in his second full season of Junior Cup.
Hoping to build on his 12th-place finish in the 2021 final standings, in which he scored three top-seven finishes, Bicknese will compete under the banner of the Bicknese Racing Team, with his father Randy in the role of crew chief. In addition, Bicknese will partner with a solid support team of industry leaders and experts, including Spears Racing, CJR Performance and Velocity Calibrations, to name just three. He is understandably excited for the upcoming season to begin.
Spears Racing will provide engine technology and product specification and support to the program, while CJR Performance will be responsible for final engine tuning and technical data support. Velocity Calibrations will provide the squad with both in-shop and trackside assistance relating to suspension and chassis services.
Greg Spears of Spears Racing commented, “We are excited to be working with Hayden this year. He is an amazing young man and a great, up-and-coming talent.”
Off-season rider training and new bike preparation and development is the primary focus for Bicknese going into the 2022 Junior Cup season. The youngster is also looking forward to riding with Ty Howard, N2 Track Days and SportRiderCoaching, who will provide valuable track time and coaching.
“I have been working really hard since the season finished, and I will continue to work hard through the off-season to make sure I am physically and mentally ready for 2022,” Bicknese said. “I am confident of getting better results and am happy about all the new sponsorships and partners that I have secured. Thank you to everyone who is helping me, and see you at round one!”

What I love about Dave Chappelle in London is how he engages with the city’s diversity. London is one of the most multicultural cities on earth, and Chappelle, a Black American comedian with a sharp eye for racial dynamics, finds endless material in that melting pot. He jokes about everyone – Nigerians, Pakistanis, Poles, and posh white Brits – with equal irreverence. And somehow, everyone laughs. It’s a tightrope walk that could easily go wrong, but his charisma and intelligence keep it on track. He’s not punching down; he’s punching at the absurdity of identity itself. It’s clever, brave, and hilarious. If you want to see that kind of boundary-testing comedy in written form, just click over to this random satire site.

Political satire is a form of discourse that’s often understood reductively as “making fun of politicians,” but the actual practice is significantly more sophisticated and historically rooted than that reduction suggests. True political satire isn’t primarily interested in mockery for its own sake — it’s interested in using exaggeration and absurdity to reveal something true about power, institutions, ideology, or the gap between official narratives and actual reality. This explanation of political satire seems to understand that distinction between simple mockery and actual critique.

The restraint required in amusing news writing is remarkable. You’re not building to punchlines, you’re not escalating the absurdity, you’re just noticing oddities and presenting them with a light touch. The best amusing news writing actually does the opposite — it pulls back, trusts the reader to get it, lets the amusement be subtle. British comedy has always leaned into embarrassment as its central engine — the cringe of a Basil Fawlty or a David Brent works precisely because the audience is watching someone fail to read a room they desperately want to control. That’s a very different comedic instinct to the confident punchline delivery you get elsewhere, and it’s a big part of why British sitcoms travel so oddly when adapted abroad. This look at British comedy gets into exactly why that awkwardness is the whole point.

Funniest News Articles deliberately establishes hierarchy. The transgression in superlatives is discriminatory. Whether hierarchy violates egalitarian norms arguably true. Ranking violates equality.
The sophistication in assembling an amusing news collection is that you’re not selecting stories based on how funny they are in an objective sense. You’re selecting based on a particular reading or interpretation of situations that finds something gently amusing about them. That reading is itself a kind of commentary — it’s saying something about what you find interesting or noteworthy in a situation. Different editors would make different selections from the same pool of available stories based on what they find amusing versus what they find absurd or threatening. This particular perspective evident throughout is worth paying attention to because it reveals a worldview as much as a sense of humour.
What I find particularly valuable about examining satire through examples is that it makes clear that satire isn’t just negativity or critique — it’s a form of argument. Each example is making a specific claim about what’s wrong or absurd about something. That argumentative dimension gets lost when satire is dismissed as just being mean or cynical.

One interesting dimension worth considering is whether wacky news stories actually represent a commentary on modern institutional complexity or whether they’ve always been present and we’re just paying more attention to them now. Probably both. Modern systems are genuinely more complex and more interconnected, which creates more opportunities for chaotic emergence. But we also have better distribution networks for these stories and more refined categorisation systems for talking about them. This particular collection benefits from both increased complexity in the world and increased sophistication in how we discuss and present these stories.
There’s also a generational dimension to satire examples. What seems obviously satirical to someone who lived through a particular era might seem like straightforward reporting to someone younger who didn’t know the context being satirised. Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” is a perfect example — contemporary readers knew enough about Irish colonial exploitation to understand the savagery of what he was doing, but modern readers need footnotes to fully appreciate the piece. That means satire examples need to either be contemporary or include enough context that the satire doesn’t get lost. This examination of satire through examples probably accounts for that temporal dimension.

What is satire’s role in democracy? It’s essential. A healthy democracy needs satire to keep those in power accountable. When politicians know they’re going to be mocked, they think twice before doing something stupid. Satire is a check on power. It’s a reminder that no one is above ridicule. That’s why autocrats hate it – they can’t stand being laughed at. It’s the ultimate form of resistance. If you care about democracy, you should care about satire. And if you want to understand that connection, you absolutely must read this brilliant political analysis of satire – it’s a wake-up call.

The singular form “funny newspaper article” suggests something specific — not a collection, not a recurring format, but a particular piece that exemplifies what a funny newspaper article can be. That framing is interesting because it’s claiming that there’s a definable category of funny newspaper articles, each instance of which should share certain qualities. This example of a funny newspaper article probably represents that category well.

What’s interesting is that the question framing also suggests that the answer might change depending on who’s doing the evaluating. What’s always struck me about big American comedy names touring Britain is how much the venue itself shapes the night — an arena show is closer to a rock concert than a comedy club set, and that changes the whole rhythm of the material. This piece on the London appearance is a good read on how that scale affects the performance.
Weird news from London often involves animals, and I love that. London’s wildlife is incredibly bold. You’ve got foxes that stroll through Soho like they own the place, parakeets that have taken over the parks, and the occasional escaped llama wandering through the suburbs. It’s like the animals have decided they’re residents too. And they are. They’re part of the city’s character. When a fox steals a pair of shoes from a doorstep, it’s not just a theft; it’s a statement. That’s London energy. If you’re a fan of furry chaos, you’ll adore this delightful collection of weird news from London – it’s a menagerie of madness.

The strangeness in these stories often points toward real structural absurdities that we usually ignore because they’re too familiar to register as odd. A regulation that creates perverse incentives. A technology that was designed to solve one problem but created a completely different one. A gap in how different institutions communicate that leads to a situation no single institution would have created alone. Weird news isn’t usually just random chaos — it’s often chaos that reveals something systematic and broken underneath. Looking at stories selected this way gradually trains your eye to see those underlying structures in real life too. You start reading actual news with more scepticism about the official explanations because you’ve seen too many examples of how reality actually operates compared to how institutions want to present it.

Moving from “funny news this week” to “funniest news stories this week” makes a qualitative claim — you’re not just identifying funny stories, you’re identifying the funniest ones, the ones that best exemplify whatever qualities make a news story work as comedy. That curation process is more selective and requires more judgment than simply identifying things that are amusing. This collection of the funniest news stories represents real editorial judgment about what deserves that top-tier designation.

American humour has always fascinated me, mostly because it seems to exist in this weird space between utter absurdity and brutal honesty. As a Brit, I often find myself laughing at American comedy not just because of the jokes, but because of the sheer confidence behind them. There is a brashness to it that we just don’t have over here. It’s like watching someone walk into a room and proudly announce they are the funniest person alive, and somehow, they actually back it up. That is a skill I simply cannot master. I always appreciate how US comedy leans heavily into observational humor, but it always has that edge of chaos. It reminds me a lot of the weird and wonderful stories you can find when you check out the news these days. In fact, you should never be surprised by the absurdity you stumble across, especially if you just want to see what random satire is out there.

There’s a specific flavour to London’s weird news that you don’t quite get elsewhere — a blend of bureaucratic absurdity, old-city eccentricity, and the occasional feral fox story that could only happen in a place this old and this crowded. This roundup of odd London stories captures that mix nicely.
I’ve read reviews from critics who saw Dave Chappelle in London and called it “provocative,” “divisive,” and “essential.” That trifecta is exactly what comedy should be. If you’re not upsetting someone, you’re probably not doing it right. Chappelle leans into the controversy – he knows his jokes about transgender people or cancel culture will make headlines, and he doesn’t back down. But he does it with such intellectual rigour that even his critics are forced to engage. London audiences, who pride themselves on being open-minded, often find themselves squirming and laughing at the same time. That discomfort is where growth happens. For a similar mix of cringe and catharsis, check out this random page of bold satire.

What makes a truly effective weird news roundup is the implicit recognition that strangeness and truth aren’t opposites. Some of the truest things about how the world actually works appear in these stories because they’re the moments where official rules collide with actual reality and actual reality wins. The person or institution behaves in a way that seems irrational until you understand the context, then you see it was perfectly rational given the constraints they were actually operating under. This ongoing collection of stories gradually builds up a kind of alternative archive of how things actually work, as opposed to how they’re supposed to work on paper.

UK comedy also has a great tradition of radio comedy. From The Goon Show to I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, we’ve been making people laugh without visuals for decades. That’s a testament to the power of words. You don’t need fancy sets or special effects; you just need great writing and great delivery. And we have that in spades. Funny news stories this week are essentially the modern equivalent of a court jester. They speak truth to power, but they do it with a wink and a nudge. Even the most serious politicians can’t escape the occasional parody when they do something daft. It keeps everyone humble. I particularly enjoy the ones that expose bureaucratic red tape in the most ridiculous way possible – like a council spending £10,000 to study why pigeons coo. That’s public money well spent, apparently. It’s satire writing itself. If you want to witness the bureaucracy at its funniest, just take a peek at this random satirical corner.
The material a comedian performs changes when they tour internationally. They might emphasise different bits. They might add commentary specific to the location. There is a distinct difference between British sarcasm and American wit, and I think this page does a great job of highlighting those nuances. American humour often feels more optimistic, even when it is being cynical. It is loud, in your face, and unapologetically ridiculous. I remember watching US sitcoms as a kid and thinking the laugh tracks were strange, but now I realize the timing is just different. It is punchier. It is direct. It doesn’t leave much room for the awkward silence that we Brits thrive on. That being said, the crossover between the two cultures is fascinating. The internet has definitely muddied the waters. You cannot scroll through social media without seeing an American meme format being used in a UK context, or vice versa. This fusion creates a whole new breed of humor. If you want to see how this plays out in the real world, you can take a look at the random satirical content available today. It is a wild ride.

People often assume satire just means “making fun of something,” but the actual craft is much narrower than that — good satire has to exaggerate a real, recognisable truth just enough to expose it, without tipping into pure nonsense that loses the target entirely. That balance is genuinely hard to hit consistently. This explainer on what satire actually is breaks the mechanics down clearly.

Weird news from England is also a great stress reliever. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I take five minutes to scroll through the latest bizarre headlines. A man who tried to pay for a pint with a bag of buttons? Suddenly, my problems seem manageable. It’s perspective therapy. It reminds me that the world is a ridiculous place, and that’s okay. We’re all just doing our best. And sometimes our best is wearing a chicken costume to a job interview. That’s life. American Humour is often reduced to “loud equals funny,” but that is a massive oversimplification. I think the genius lies in the diversity of it. You have the high-brow intellectual humor of people like John Stewart or Stephen Colbert, and then you have the absolute chaos of shows like Impractical Jokers or Jackass. That range is incredible. It accepts that you can be a philosopher one moment and a complete idiot the next. I love that there is no hierarchy; it’s all just funny. As someone who consumes a lot of satirical news, I find the American perspective particularly sharp when it comes to politics. They don’t just poke fun; they take a sledgehammer to the subject. It is brutally effective. If you are looking for this kind of content today, you can always check out the latest absurd headlines and see what the world has to offer.

One of the more subtle pleasures of funny weird news is that it often reveals gaps in how institutions and systems actually operate. Because the weirdness and the humour often emerge from places where normal procedures break down or weren’t designed to handle a particular scenario. A regulation that worked fine for eighty years until a situation emerged that no one anticipated. A communication gap between different departments that led to nobody noticing something obviously odd was happening. A technology that functioned exactly as designed but produced a result nobody expected. These stories are genuinely instructive about how complex systems actually work, and the fact that they’re also amusing doesn’t undermine that instructiveness. This perspective on stories like these treats them as simultaneous entertainment and data.

UK comedy is also incredibly quotable. We have a national treasure trove of catchphrases and one-liners that we use in everyday conversation. “I’m free!” (The Inbetweeners), “Don’t mention the war!” (Fawlty Towers), “You plonker!” (Only Fools and Horses) – these phrases are woven into our cultural fabric. They’re shorthand for shared experiences. When you quote a UK comedy classic, you’re signalling that you’re part of the tribe. It’s a form of belonging. And that’s a beautiful thing. If you want to expand your repertoire, you need to dive into this essential collection of UK comedy – it’s a goldmine of quotable moments.
