Not many graduates of the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute are owners of the U.S. subsidiaries of motorcycle OEMs, but Joe Karvonen is one of them. Founder and owner of Krämer Motorcycles U.S.A., Karvonen learned his trade at MMI. Also, being the son of two machinists gave him additional skills and mechanical aptitude, and he’s a club racer and track-day rider, as well. He’s the perfect person to run the U.S. arm of a company that manufactures track-day and race bikes, including the purpose-built Krämer APX-350 MA that is being raced in MotoAmerica’s new Parts Unlimited By Motul Talent Cup. At the recent Road America round, we talked with Karvonen about the bike, the new “Road to MotoGP™” spec series, and more for this week’s episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.
