A pair of MotoAmerica Superbike riders—one former and one current—competed at the final round of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK), which came to a close at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
Former MotoAmerica multi-time Superbike race winner Garrett Gerloff, who has been a WorldSBK regular since 2020, was joined on the grid at Jerez by 2025 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship runner-up Bobby Fong, who was a wild-card entry for the second weekend in a row and the second consecutive WorldSBK round.
Garrett Gerloff
The Kawasaki WorldSBK Team’s Lone Star factory rider, Gerloff finished 15th overall in the final points standings as he completed his first season aboard the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR. Gerloff began his final weekend 11th-fastest in Friday’s FP1, and his 18th-quickest time in FP2 put him 16th overall after the first day. In Saturday’s FP3, the Double-G was 15th-fastest, and then he was 15th on the timesheets in Superpole. The withdrawal of one rider due to injury promoted every rider behind third place in Superpole one place up on the starting grid, so Gerloff lined up 14th for Saturday afternoon’s 20-lap Race 1, and that’s the same position he was in when he crossed the finish line.
GG31’s best result of the weekend occurred in Sunday morning’s Warm Up as he was seventh-quickest among the 24 riders. In the 10-lap Superpole Race, Gerloff finished the sprint in 17th position and missed out on collecting any Championship points. In Race 2, he was running in 14th place in the early laps, but on lap 15, he was forced to retire with a technical issue.

The Texan ended his sixth WorldSBK season in 15th position overall.
“It has been a long year, and we have definitely had some better moments,” Gerloff said. “This weekend was not one of the better moments. It was a tough weekend, and we ended up struggling more than I imagined.
“In Race 2, I had a technical problem, which was unfortunate, and not the way any of us wanted to end the year. We have some new things that we are going to do, and I am excited to see if there is a payoff at the end. I think there will be. 2026 starts in a couple of days, with a test at Jerez on Tuesday.”
Bobby Fong
Attack Performance Strack Racing Yamaha’s Fong continued his progress in the FIM Superbike World Championship.
With more seat time under his belt, Fong improved his pace throughout the weekend in Jerez. After qualifying 24th, the Californian finished 21st in Saturday’s Race 1 and followed it up with a pair of 19th-place finishes in Sunday’s Superpole Race and Race 2.
Fong and his team, led by Attack Performance with support from Strack Racing, gathered valuable data and experience on the world stage.

“It’s been a lot better than Estoril,” the Fonger said. “In Race 1, I could see some people close by in front of me, so that was nice and encouraging for the Superpole Race and Race 2. The Superpole Race was really good. I definitely dropped my times and matched my qualifying time pretty consistently, so I was stoked about that. We tried something, and it definitely helped me out a lot.
“In Race 2, I didn’t have the best feeling with the front tire from the get-go. My pace was OK. but I just wish it had gone a little better. Obviously, as a racer, you want to be a lot better and closer to the front guys, but I’ve got to be satisfied because we did improve, and the gap was shrinking to the guys up front. I can’t really describe how different it is here compared to the U.S. Overall, it’s been positive. Each time we went out, we improved. The team and I have definitely learned a lot.”
