“I’m Excited, Man. I’m Super Excited!” – Tyler Scott

The illustrious Team Hammer M4 ECSTAR Suzuki outfit has been responsible for launching the careers of many of America’s finest road racers and, with any luck, a new star is about to etch his name on the Team Hammer honor roll.

Tyler Scott, more famous for his exploits on the M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R750 in the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, will make his debut in the premier MotoAmerica Quad Lock Superbike series this weekend at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, riding alongside Brandon Paasch on the Suzuki GSX-R1000R as Richie Escalante continues his recouperation from his crash at Mid-Ohio last month.

“I’m super excited for the opportunity to be able to throw a leg over the bike and I think it’ll be really good,” said the Emmaus, Pennsylvania native Scott. “We’ll start off slow and get used to the bike. It’s unlike anything that I’ve ever ridden before. I’ve ridden the bike a couple years ago for 10 or 15 laps, kind of as a thank you from the team after the one season.

“But other than that, this will be my first time on a 1000 and a pretty fast one at that. So, there’ll definitely be a learning curve, but I think it’ll come pretty quick.”

Scott’s been a part of the MotoAmerica paddock for the last five years, always a fixture in the Team Hammer pits as he fights the good fight on the GSX-R750 against the hordes of ultra-fast Ducati Panigale V2 machines as part of the Next Gen Supersport class.

The Russian-born Scott has six career wins in the class to his name. He’s also a prolific qualifier, with poles at circuits like Barber Motorsports Park and Road America, and three consecutive Daytona 200 Supersport Time Attack pole positions through to 2026.

“In Supersport, we don’t have any traction control or launch control—nothing like that. We have engine brake adjustability with superbike, which we can tune corner by corner. We have wheelie control, traction control, a whole bunch of options, triple the amount of buttons on the dash—it’s a whole different animal.”

Scott knows the task ahead will be a big one but feels he’s more than up to the task.

“I just get on the bike and do some laps,” Scott says. “I have some goals in my head, but honestly, I just want to get through day one and put a lot of laps in.

“I’ve talked to Richie (Escalante) and Brandon (Paasch) a lot after their superbike races and their comments are more generalized on the chassis,” Scott continues. “For me, it’s the learning curve, learning how the computer works to read the data, to recite it properly back to my team, and get laps while keeping the bike upright. I think that’s the most important thing for me, not necessarily the setup of the bike—to be smooth and comfortable.”

Scott will have his first hit out on the Team Hammer M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R1000R during the opening practice session scheduled for 10:55 am CDT.
