American Racing’s Cameron Beaubier had a solid last Friday of his Moto2 career with the five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion ending the day eighth fastest in advance of Sunday’s Grand Prix of Valencia at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Spain.

Beaubier’s best lap came on his 18th of 20 laps in FP2, the Californian lapping at 1:35.723 to slot himself onto the provisional third row of the grid. His best was .775 of a second behind provisional pole sitter Pedro Acosta with the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider fastest with his 1:34.948.

Italtrans Racing’s Joe Roberts, meanwhile, ended opening day in Spain in 15th with his 1:35.958 coming on his 20th and final lap in FP2. Roberts is just a second off Acosta’s best.

Beaubier’s teammate Sean Dylan Kelly completed FP2 in 28th with his lap of 1:37.105.

Acosta led his teammate Augusto Fernandez by just .031 of a second with Beta Tools Speed Up’s Alonso Lopez completing the provisional front row and just .180 of a second from Acosta.

Fernandez goes into Sunday’s Grand Prix 9.5 points ahead of Ai Ogura in the Moto2 World Championship.
