MotoAmerica’s esteemed Medical Director Dr. Carl Price took advantage of a weekend off between Brainerd International Raceway and Ridge Motorsports Park to travel to Mugello Circuit in Italy to compete in the Aprilia Racing RS 660 Trofeo Cup, which is being held in conjunction with the third round of the C. I. SPEED MOTORCYCLING – DUNLOP CIV Italian national motorcycle road racing championship.
Price, who was previously a “regular” in MotoAmerica’s BellissiMoto Twins Cup Championship, still races when the opportunity arises. And this was a big opportunity.
“Racing in Italy, on an Aprilia RS 660, and at the iconic Mugello Circuit is amazing,” Price said. “I am so happy just to be here and be competitive. Huge thanks to BK Corse principals Giacomo Moresco and Massimo Marcon for making this whole thing possible, along with my crew chief Alex Queen. And, a huge thank you to Robem Engineering’s Michael Copoulos for traveling over here with me and being an important part of my crew. Finally, I have to thank my wife Kathy and my daughter Ana for joining me on this adventure, as well.”
The Prices and Copoulos flew over to Italy earlier this week, and of course, a couple of late-night dinners were in order where Dr. Price got to “debrief” with his Italian hosts and crew. As Kathy Price said, “The Italians eat later in the evening, consume lots of food, and stretch the meals out over more time. Our dinner last night started at 8 and ended after 11.”
The Aprilia RS 660 Trofeo Cup runs through the weekend at Mugello Circuit. in the past, MotoAmerica riders Ben Gloddy, Teagg Hobbs, Kaleb De Keyrel, and Max Toth have flown over to Italy to participate in the the all-Aprilia RS 660 spec series.
