Texan Garrett Gerloff ended the two-day World Superbike test at Misano with the third fastest time.

Two-time MotoAmerica Supersport Champion Garrett Gerloff ended the two-day World Superbike test at Misano in Italy today with the third fastest time – the GRT Yamaha WorldSBK rider just .325 of a second from Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who ended up at the top of the timesheets on the second day.

Despite a crash in this afternoon’s final session, Rinaldi managed to throw down a lap-record setting 1:33.688 to knock yesterday’s leader Toprak Razgatlioglu and the PATA Yamaha WorldSBK YZF-R1 from the top spot. Razgatlioglu’s best lap was a 1:33.886 today.

Gerloff, meanwhile, led the second session at one point but ended up third with his 1:34.013 set during his 67 laps. That put him ahead of Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Scott Redding with PATA Yamaha WorldSBK’s Andrea Locatelli rounding out the top five.

“I’m happier today than I was yesterday, we did a lot of laps just to get used to the track,” Gerloff said. “I feel really good, the Yamaha R1 feels even better, and my crew and I are on the same page, so it’s all coming together. It was nice to have a clean day, test some new items, including the new aero package, and get some more information for the next test in Barcelona. The engineers have been working really hard and we’ve been making some gains. I’m leaving here really positive and looking forward to continuing to learn and improve the bike over the next few tests.”
