Despite the fact that he’d only been around the track on a video game, S&S/Indian Motorcycle’s Troy Herfoss ended the opening Mission King Of The Baggers practice session on top of the heap with a best lap of 2:19.243 around the Circuit of The Americas road course on Friday morning.

Herfoss was .316 of a second faster than his teammate Tyler O’Hara as Indian struck first in its battle with Harley-Davidson. With the Baggers the first motorcycles to take to a cold COTA track, lap times were well off lap-record pace from the September race at COTA when Kyle Wyman lapped at 2:15.461.

Daytona winner Wyman was the first of the Harleys this morning with a 2:19.683 putting him third and .440 of a second off Herfoss’s best lap.

SDI/Roland Sands Racing/Indian Motorcycle’s Bobby Fong and RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson’s Hayden Gillim rounded out the top five.
