Kayla Yaakov talks with TODAY Show correspondent Donna Farizan, while NBC News producer Katrina Bartocillo (right) oversees the production.

MP13 Racing’s Kayla Yaakov has attracted the attention of NBC News, the news division of the American broadcast television network NBC-TV.

Yaakov and Farizan discuss MotoAmerica road racing.

A production crew from NBC’s TODAY Show joined the REV’IT! Twins Cup rider at Jennings GP in Jennings, Florida, on Monday. Correspondent Donna Farizan did sit-down interviews with 15-year-old Yaakov and her father Dave Yaakov. Farizan also donned a set of leathers and climbed aboard Yaakov’s stationary Yamaha YZF-R6 practice bike, while Yaakov provided some tips to Farizan about proper positioning on a road racing motorcycle while accelerating, braking, and setting up for left- and right-hand turns. In addition, the production crew shot footage of Yaakov aboard her R6 and lapping around the two-mile, 14-turn Jennings GP road course while her father timed her laps. Not having been exposed to MotoAmerica road racing prior to Monday, the NBC News crew members were duly impressed with Yaakov’s riding, as well as her interviewing skills.

The segment is planned for an upcoming episode of “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” Details to come.

Yaakov will make her class debut aboard an MP13 Racing Yamaha YZF-R7 in the 2023 REV’IT! Twins Cup Championship at Daytona International Speedway on March 9 through 11.
