MotoAmerica VIP Superfans showed extraordinary generosity at the Permco MotoAmerica Superbikes at Mid-Ohio event, rallying behind Twins Cup rider Kevin Olmedo, who proudly represents Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador. At every round this season, the VIP Superfan Experience has become known for the way it brings fans and privateer racers together with the VIP Privateer Fund, and Mid-Ohio was no exception.
Kevin’s story is one of resilience. After facing a serious illness that left him paralyzed for several months, he fought his way back to full health and returned to racing — a comeback that speaks to the determination it takes to compete at the top level of American road racing. The El Salvadorian rides a Suzuki GSX-8R for Karns/TST Industries Racing in the highly competitive Twins Cup class.
Qualifying 9th at Mid-Ohio earned Kevin’s selection as the VIP Privateer Support Program rider for the Ohio round. Beginning at Daytona, the program has become a cherished tradition, highlighted by the exclusive VIP Privateer Support Program hats that have become a signature piece of MotoAmerica VIP weekends. With a minimum donation of $50, VIPs not only support a privateer but often collect signatures from VIP guest speakers, creating a memorable keepsake from their weekend and a tangible connection to the riders they’re helping. The program has now generated over $17,000 for MotoAmerica privateer racers across various classes, underscoring just how much of an impact grassroots fan support can have on a racer’s season.
“I was truly speechless,” said Olmedo. “It was a big surprise for me and I really appreciate all the support from the VIPs.. Being able to talk about my testimony, and spend some time with all the VIPs was incredible. I hope to continue giving my best every race weekend, and I hope they enjoy every race. Also thanks a lot to the MotoAmerica crew for this opportunity and for starting this amazing program that is helping riders for this great sport.”
The weekend’s support was boosted by two special auction items: a striking painting of Max Flinders by artist Scott O’Dell and signed bodywork from Hayden Gillim’s Real Steel Honda — both drawing plenty of interest from VIPs looking to take home a piece of the paddock. Thanks to spirited bidding — initiated by Max himself — the VIP Superfans raised a total of $2,460.00, presented to Kevin in a supersized check and envelope. VIP Superfan Joey Bones placed the winning bid, earning applause and appreciation from everyone in attendance.
A special thank-you goes to VP Racing Fuels, who contributed five gallons of VP Racing fuel to help Kevin as he prepares for the next round at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in Alton, Virginia, August 14–16, 2026. Every bit of support counts for a privateer team working to keep a bike on track for the rest of the season.
Kevin’s appreciation was unmistakable. The kindness and enthusiasm of the VIP Superfans made a lasting impact, and the energy in the suites reflected the strong connection between riders and VIP Superfans — a reminder of why the program continues to resonate with VIP Superfans weekend after weekend.
