Little Known Fact: As a kid Darryn grew up racing fellow MotoAmerica riders Cameron Petersen and Mathew Scholtz in their native South Africa. Darryn is the younger brother of MotoGP racer Brad Binder. Earned the nickname “Divebomb Darryn” for his aggressive overtakes in Moto3 early in his career, but developed more maturity in his later career. Enjoys training by cycling and gym workouts. A well-rounded motorcyclist, Darryn also rides motocross, enduro and even trials. Favorite meal is a simple one – chicken and rice and occasionally steak. Enjoys watching South Africa’s national rugby team the Springboks. Favorite thing to do to relax is enjoy time with friends and family at a braai (a more complex equivalent of a barbeque.)

Career Highlights:
2025-2013 – After a successful domestic racing career as a junior, Darryn followed in his brother Brad’s footsteps and raced in Red Bull Rookies Cup for two seasons starting in 2013. He began his Grand Prix Racing career in Moto3 in 2015. In seven seasons of Moto3 Darryn scored six podiums, including a victory at Catalunya in 2020. He also tallied 3 poles. Went straight from Moto3 to a season in MotoGP in 2022 with WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team. Scored world championship points in three rounds with a best MotoGP result of 10th in Indonesia. Then raced three seasons in Moto2. Earned nine top-10 Moto2 finishes in those three years with a best placing of 5th in Indonesia in 2024.
