Sonya Lloyd

Sonya Lloyd steps into the 2026 MotoAmerica Twins Cup season joining the powerhouse M4 ECSTAR Suzuki squad. A versatile athlete with a degree in biological engineering, Lloyd’s foundation was built on the dirt, where she began flat track racing at 17 under the influence of her father, David Lloyd.

Her rapid ascent through the road racing ranks is highlighted by a standout 2023 season, finishing second in the Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. program with podiums in nearly every round. Lloyd transitioned to the global stage in 2025, scoring six top-20 finishes in the FIM Women’s World Championship. Now returning to domestic competition, she aims to leverage her flat track grit and international experience to put her Suzuki in the thick of the top runners.

Little Known Fact: Began flat track racing when she was 17. Has a university degree in biological engineering. Calls flat track greats Sammy Halbert, Joe Kopp and Jared Mees as her racing heroes when she was growing up. Sonya’s dad David (Lloyd Brothers Motorsports) once ran Ducati’s American Flat Track racing program.

2025 – Scored six top-20 finishes in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship. Team Trasimeno with factory support from Yamaha USA. Best result was 18^th (twice). 2024 – Raced MotoAmerica Twins Cup for Giaccmoto Yamaha Racing and finished 17^th. Earned championship points in six races and earned a best result of 9^th at Road America. Raced as a wildcard in FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship at Jerez. 2023 – Raced in the Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race (BTR) and finished 2^nd in the championship finishing on the podium in all but one round.
