After suffering an injury from a crash during REV’IT! Twins Cup race one at Daytona International Speedway in March, Ben Gloddy had hoped to be recovered and back in the saddle of his Rodio Racing – Powered by Robem Engineering Aprilia RS 660 at round two of the class championship this weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. But, according to Robem Engineering team owner Matt Spicer, Gloddy has been ruled out for Road Atlanta, and 2020 Twins Cup Champion Rocco Landers will fill-in this weekend for Gloddy.

In a statement posted on his Facebook Page, Gloddy said, “I will not be at Atlanta this weekend…What took place at and after Daytona was a little more traumatic physically and mentally than I initially thought and I will be taking this time to work on myself to be stronger than ever.”

Landers, who finished second in last year’s Supersport Championship with four race wins and 12 podiums aboard his Landers Racing Yamaha YZF-R6, will race an Aprilia for the first time in his career and also in his first MotoAmerica appearance this year. The 18-year-old, who hails from Burns, Oregon, was noticeably absent from the entry list for last month’s Daytona 200, however, he was present in the paddock at Daytona. He was hopeful that he might secure a ride in one of the four MotoAmerica classes that were in action, but nothing materialized.

“I’m really stoked that I was able to get this opportunity from Matt to replace my good buddy Ben for the weekend,” Landers said. “I’m hoping to fill his shoes as best as I can and get some podiums or wins.”

Landers will take to the Road Atlanta track along with the rest of the REV’IT! Twins Cup entrants beginning Friday morning in Practice 1 at 9 a.m.
