Nico Bandel has a goal. The six-year-old from Erie, Colorado wants to become a Superbike racer in MotoAmerica just like his favorite rider Josh Herrin. According to Nico’s father Shawn, Nico “loves the way (Herrin) races and especially enjoys his big, stand-up wheelies.”

Last year, Nico traveled with his mom and dad, Shawn and Julia Bandel, from Colorado to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, for rounds five and six of the 2023 Mission Mini Cup By Motul Championship at Road America. It was the Bandel family’s first involvement in the Mini Cup series, and Nico participated in the Stock 50 class aboard a Honda CRF50F. The experience made Nico even more determined to reach his goal.

Nico has been training aboard his Honda 50 and also aboard an Ohvale GP-0 mini-racer. Shawn shadows Nico around the track on his own bike, and the two always have a great time together.

Shawn and Julia, who own a real estate company appropriately named Good Life Real Estate, are definitely living the “good life” with Nico. Shawn says “Nico is racing with Rocky Mountain Mini Moto (the Mini Cup qualifier in their region), and we’ll be returning to Road America on August 9 through 11 for this year’s Mission Mini Cup By Motul National Final. Nico is excited and training hard.”
