Three former MotoAmerica riders were racing at the Cremona Circuit in San Martino del Lago, Italy, this weekend. Garrett Gerloff and his Kawasaki WorldSBK Team competed in round four of the FIM Superbike World Championship, while Mallory Dobbs and Sonya Lloyd raced for their respective teams in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR), also at the Cremona Circuit.

Gerloff’s weekend at his team’s home track concluded on a high note after the improvements that were made to the set-up and overall pace of his Kawasaki ZX-10RR. Sunday morning’s 10-lap Superpole Race netted the Texan a 15th-place result and, in the afternoon’s 23-lap Race Two, he equaled his best result of the season with a 12th-place finish.

“I can’t believe how much faster everybody is going this year,” Gerloff said. “The winner’s race time today was 20 seconds faster than last year. In Race Two today, I went a full two seconds faster than I did last year. And, last year, I finished fourth. This year, I finished 12th. So, the level just keeps increasing at a crazy rate. Overall, though, I’m happy with how we finished the weekend. It was nice to be close to the (Kawasaki-powered) Bimotas, which is kind of my only reference at the moment. I went faster this year than Alex Lowes’ race time last year, and I’m on the same bike. So, I think that’s good and positive. And it is kind of hard to be positive when I’m 12th. So, we’ll keep making steps and keep moving forward.”

The Double-G is currently ranked 17th in the season points standings, and he is just three points out of 16th with one-third of the season now completed. Round five of the 2025 season will take place at the Autodromo Most in the Czech Republic, on May 16 through 18.

In WorldWCR racing, Diva Racing’s Mallory Dobbs bounced back from her unfortunate DNF in Saturday’s Race One (caused when another rider made contact with her and put her out of the race) to finish 12th in Sunday’s Race Two. Team Trasimeno’s Sonya Lloyd, who was 19th in Saturday’s Race One, finished 21st in Race Two.

“We had a bit of a roller-coaster weekend at Cremona for the second round of the championship,” Lloyd said. “I battled with bike setup a little bit and struggled with getting the bike to turn the way I want it to. We’re still learning, and we’re getting closer to figuring things out and just figuring out all the intricacies of the tracks over here. It’s a great experience, and overall, I have a positive outlook on this entire race series.”

Dobbs and Lloyd will be back in action aboard their spec Yamaha YZF-R7s on the weekend of July 11 through 13 at Donington Park, England.
