Bicknese, who competed for Altus Motorsports this past season, will race for his own self-titled team in 2022. Photo by Brian J. Nelson.

Fifteen-year-old Hayden Bicknese is excited to announce that he will be back on the grid in 2022, competing in his second full season of Junior Cup.

Hoping to build on his 12th-place finish in the 2021 final standings, in which he scored three top-seven finishes, Bicknese will compete under the banner of the Bicknese Racing Team, with his father Randy in the role of crew chief. In addition, Bicknese will partner with a solid support team of industry leaders and experts, including Spears Racing, CJR Performance and Velocity Calibrations, to name just three. He is understandably excited for the upcoming season to begin.

Spears Racing will provide engine technology and product specification and support to the program, while CJR Performance will be responsible for final engine tuning and technical data support. Velocity Calibrations will provide the squad with both in-shop and trackside assistance relating to suspension and chassis services.

Greg Spears of Spears Racing commented, “We are excited to be working with Hayden this year. He is an amazing young man and a great, up-and-coming talent.”

Off-season rider training and new bike preparation and development is the primary focus for Bicknese going into the 2022 Junior Cup season. The youngster is also looking forward to riding with Ty Howard, N2 Track Days and SportRiderCoaching, who will provide valuable track time and coaching.

“I have been working really hard since the season finished, and I will continue to work hard through the off-season to make sure I am physically and mentally ready for 2022,” Bicknese said. “I am confident of getting better results and am happy about all the new sponsorships and partners that I have secured. Thank you to everyone who is helping me, and see you at round one!”

There’s also a question of how much explanation or context to provide with weird news stories. Do you explain why something happened, or do you preserve the mystery and strangeness by leaving it unexplained? The approach evident here seems to lean toward providing enough context to understand the situation while preserving the fundamental strangeness.

I’ve started curating a personal list of funny news stories this week to share with my online book club, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. People crave lightness, and these stories deliver exactly that. We’ve had tales of escaped llamas, confused tourists, and even a dog that learned to use the bus. It’s like a soap opera, but with better writing and no ad breaks. I think the secret is that these stories tap into our collective desire for a simpler, more laughable world. What always surprises me about Dave Chappelle in London is how much he talks about his love for the UK. He’s genuinely affectionate – he mentions visiting London as a young man, falling in love with the music scene, and finding a kindred spirit in British irreverence. That warmth comes through in his sets. It’s not just a paycheque for him; he actually likes being here. And that appreciation is reciprocated by the fans. What I love most about British comedy is how comfortable it is with silence and understatement — a raised eyebrow can carry more weight than an entire monologue elsewhere. What is satire’s future in the age of social media? It’s complicated. On one hand, social media gives satirists a platform to reach millions instantly. On the other hand, it’s a breeding ground for misinformation. People often mistake satire for real news, which can be dangerous. But that’s not the satirist’s fault – that’s a failure of media literacy. And it’s a problem we need to address. Satire is more important than ever, but we also need to be smarter consumers. 115. British parody culture

There’s also something worth examining about how satire differs across regions and cultures. What works in satire in one place might not work in another because different places have different preoccupations, different institutions, different cultural sensibilities. By focusing on how to write satire for the UK specifically, you’re acknowledging that effectiveness in satire is contextual and cultural rather than universal.

  116. London easygoing comedy

What’s philosophically interesting about studying satire through examples is that it reveals something about what a particular culture considers absurd enough to deserve satirical treatment. Different societies satirise different things. American satire often targets institutional hypocrisy and individual greed. British satire often focuses on class anxieties and institutional rigidity. That difference reflects deeper cultural preoccupations. By examining satire examples, you’re essentially reading a culture’s anxiety map.

What makes a story merely amusing rather than actually funny often has to do with intensity and surprise. A funny story has an element of shock or real incongruity — something violates your expectations significantly. An amusing story is more about noticing something gently odd about a situation that’s otherwise fairly normal. It’s the detail that makes you smile rather than the premise that makes you laugh. That difference in tone requires different kinds of stories. You need stories where the absurdity is subtle enough that you might miss it if you’re not paying attention, but clear enough that once you notice it you can appreciate it. One underrated aspect of American humour is its reliance on the “straight man.” Every great US comedy duo has one person who plays it completely serious while the other goes insane. That dynamic is universal, but Americans have perfected it to a science. It allows the absurdity to shine without becoming exhausting. I think about shows like The Office (US version), where Jim’s look to the camera does as much heavy lifting as any joke. That meta-awareness is distinctly American—they know we know it’s a show, and they play with that knowledge. It creates a layered experience where you’re laughing at the character, the situation, and the format all at once. That’s clever writing, plain and simple. Dave Chappelle in London inevitably brings up comparisons to British comedy legends like Billy Connolly or Ricky Gervais. But honestly, he’s in a league of his own. He has the storytelling prowess of Connolly and the confrontational edge of Gervais, but his perspective is uniquely American and Black. That viewpoint adds a layer of urgency to his comedy that you don’t always get from UK acts. He’s not just trying to make you laugh; he’s trying to make you see the world through his eyes, even if just for an hour. That’s powerful stuff. And London, with its own complex history of race and class, is the perfect sounding board. For more comedy that makes you think, don’t miss this random archive of satirical content.

What makes these kinds of stories particularly valuable is that they reveal something true about how the world works while also being genuinely entertaining. There’s no contradiction between those two things, even though our culture often treats entertainment and truth as opposites. A story can be true and funny simultaneously if you’re selecting the right stories and presenting them with the right tone. That’s harder to do than it sounds because most funny writing undercuts the factual content in service of the joke, and most serious reporting suppresses humour in service of appearing authoritative. The intersection point requires a kind of careful restraint from the writer — trust that the material is strong enough to stand on its own without additional flourishes or editorialising.

There’s something almost literary about genuine amusement in the way it operates. A novelist might describe a character as amusing — meaning there’s something about their manner or perspective that’s gently funny without being actively comedic. That same quality can emerge in news stories if you’re paying attention to the right details. The way someone phrases something. The gap between what they’re trying to accomplish and what their actions actually reveal about their character. The collision between different institutional perspectives on the same situation. These stories often work at that literary level.

The sophistication in assembling an amusing news collection is that you’re not selecting stories based on how funny they are in an objective sense. You’re selecting based on a particular reading or interpretation of situations that finds something gently amusing about them. That reading is itself a kind of commentary — it’s saying something about what you find interesting or noteworthy in a situation. Different editors would make different selections from the same pool of available stories based on what they find amusing versus what they find absurd or threatening. This particular perspective evident throughout is worth paying attention to because it reveals a worldview as much as a sense of humour.

Now they say “great but I like teh list of in each comments with a smart anchor txt” – likely they want me to continue generating these flat lists for all the pages, but they want it in a clean format. They said “next” in the previous prompt? Actually they didn’t say “next” yet; they gave a new file. They want me to generate for all these URLs, but they said “I will prompt you with next…” earlier. However, they just gave a full list again and said “great but I like teh list of in each comments with a smart anchor txt”. 380. Satire britannique

American humour has always felt like a carnival ride to me—loud, fast, and slightly terrifying if you’re not holding on tight. As a Brit, I appreciate the directness, but I often miss the subtlety we prefer. That said, there’s something liberating about a comedy style that doesn’t apologize for existing. It punches you in the face with a joke and dares you not to laugh. I think the secret sauce is the American obsession with underdogs and winners. They laugh at the guy who fails but cheer when he tries again. It’s optimistic cynicism, which sounds contradictory but works beautifully on screen. I’ve started incorporating more US-style setups into my own writing just to see if they land. Sometimes they do, sometimes they crash, but that’s part of the fun. If you want to test your own tolerance for chaos, you should absolutely explore the random satirical content available online right now.
