Fifteen-year-old Hank Vossberg will make his SC-Project Twins Cup debut this coming weekend at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington, and he’s looking forward to what will be a big step for the Wisconsinite as he goes from the new Parts Unlimited Talent Cup By Motul series to the Twins class. Vossberg, however, has one big thing working in his favor: he has experience on the Robem Engineering Aprilia RS 660.
“It was on the 660, but the endurance bike so it had a bigger tank, but it was the same bike though,” Vossberg said of his experience in last year’s WERA Endurance Series on the Aprilia. “I’ve also been riding our practice bike for a while now, trying to get time on the future MotoAmerica tracks.”
Although the bike will be familiar, it will be Vossberg’s first time competing against experienced MotoAmerica Twins racers in a deep field that includes his teammate for the weekend and Talent Cup rival, Alessandro Di Mario.
“We’re pretty good teammates and we did the endurance series together,” Vossberg said. “We’re pretty close.”
Vossberg will also race the bike at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, July 11-13.
“It will be so much fun,” Vossberg said. “Both these tracks are really cool, and the team is very good.”
“Matt (Spicer, the team owner) drove up to our house and we’re in Rapid City right now,” Vossberg said of the long drive from his home in Wisconsin to the Pacific Northwest and Ridge Motorsports Park.
Four riders have won races in the debut season of the Parts Unlimited Talent Cup By Motul, and Vossberg is one of them with his victory coming in race two at Barber Motorsports Park.
