After spending Thanksgiving Day familiarizing themselves with the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto, breaking in their gloves and boots, sitting atop their racebikes in the trackside garages, and doing a little “bench racing,” the eight American riders representing the FIM’s North America Continental Union in the 2024 City of Jerez FIM Intercontinental Games got down to business on Friday when they turned their first laps on their Yamaha YZF-R3s and YZF-R7s in a one-hour test practice session for each class.

Fastest among the American riders in the Supersport class was Blake Davis, whose lap of 1:55.268 was 11th quickest and just 1.794 seconds off the fastest lap time of the day. In the Supersport 300 class, Avery Dreher’s lap of 2:01.278 was the fastest for the American R3 riders, and it was the 14th-fastest overall SSP300 lap time, 2.953 seconds from the fastest lap in the class.

In each race class, two timed practice sessions are on the schedule for Saturday morning, and two qualifying sessions will take place in the afternoon. On Sunday, following a morning warmup for each class, the Intercontinental Games will culminate in two feature races for each class.
