Most motorcycle racing teams, particularly those with multiple riders, focus on having those riders all compete on the same brand of motorcycle. There are a couple of reasons for that, including sponsorship commitments with the OEM brand whose motorcycles they race, and also, there are advantages to having more than one rider racing on the same brand of motorcycle because the riders can each test different components and setups to help develop their bikes more quickly and efficiently.
Altus Motorsports, one of the largest racing teams in the paddock, is in a unique and enviable position. They are supported by their dealerships, which sell motorcycles manufactured by Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, and more.
At the beginning of this season, the team introduced a new wrinkle in their rider lineup and class participation. With five riders signed to their team, they put two riders (Torin Collins and Owen Williams) on Suzuki GSX-R750s and two riders (Jaret Nassaney and Jake Lewis) on the brand-new Yamaha YZF-R9, with the quartet all competing in the 2025 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship. In addition, Seth Dahmer has been racing an Altus Motorsports Suzuki GSX-8R in the SC-Project Twins Cup Championship this season.
For this weekend at Circuit of The Americas, the closest round to their home in Altus, Oklahoma, the team and Supersport rider Nassaney decided to give literbike road racing a try for the first time in his career. A MotoAmerica rider since the series began in 2015, Nassaney previously raced lightweight bikes in the KTM RC Cup and Junior Cup, as well as middleweight machines in Superstock 600, then he moved up Supersport in 2018. And now, along with continuing to race his Altus Motorsports Yamaha R9 in Supersport, Nassaney will be also be aboard a Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP as he competes in the final round of the 2025 MotoAmerica Stock 1000 Championship.

Nassaney is borrowing the Honda Fireblade SP from his crew chief Thibault. That’s quite nice of Nassaney’s crew chief to entrust his beloved literbike to Nassaney, and it’s another example of the camaraderie that exists within Altus Motorsports. When Jake Lewis sat out of Supersport at Mid-Ohio in order to focus on the final round of the 2025 Mission Super Hooligan National Championship Powered By Harley-Davidson, his crew chief jeremy McWilliams filled in for Lewis in Supersport aboard Lewis’s Yamaha R9. Sharing is how this team rolls.
About his first stint in Stock 1000 and aboard the Honda, Nassaney said, “I’m excited to try something new. The bike is super-competitive, and I’m ready to just have fun and get some more track time to hopefully help on the Yamaha R9. Stock 1000 has some really fast guys in there, so I’m excited to see where I stack up on a literbike.”
Beginning on Friday, Nassaney will practice and qualify on two different motorcycles and in two different classes, then he’ll line up and compete in two races on Saturday and another two races on Sunday.
