Seventeen-year-old Liam Grant is ready to race in the 2021 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship.

After a strong 2020 season in SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup, in which he finished fifth in the championship, Grant Motors Racing’s Liam Grant is climbing the development ladder in MotoAmerica and will compete aboard a Graves Motorsports-prepared ZX-6R in the 2021 Supersport class.

Grant trained with Ken Hill Coaching during the winter in order to prepare for his Supersport debut.

Seventeen-year-old Grant earned the pole position in Junior Cup at MotoAmerica’s season-concluding round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in 2020. He has been training hard over the winter at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, under the tutelage of his riding coach Ken Hill, in order to make the transition from last year’s Kawasaki Ninja 400 to this year’s Kawasaki Supersport-class motorcycle.

Grant provided some perspective on that transition. “My goal has been to move up to a bigger bike as soon as we thought I was ready,” Grant said. “2020 was a great season for me, in terms of learning to race in the really competitive Junior Cup class. My goal during the off-season has been to adapt my riding technique to the size and power of the 600, and to work on my ability to provide meaningful feedback that will help my crew and me to develop the bike and dial in the setup. I’m also working on becoming a more complete rider.”

Grant Motors Racing is excited to be working with Graves Motorsports for the upcoming season. “Chuck Graves and his team are true professionals in the way they approach their bike building, their technical support, and their racing,” commented team principal Jason Grant. “We are looking forward to working with them and learning from them in our first year racing in the Supersport class.”

The team supporting Liam Grant in 2021 includes Ken Hill, who Grant has worked with ever since Hill first rode with Grant on a kart track back in Colorado in 2017. Brian Robertson has joined the team as lead technician for the 2021 season. Robertson has a long history in racing and owns Speedin Motorsports, a performance motorsports shop, located in Farmington New Mexico. Geoff Cesmat, who was crew chief for Grant in 2020, will continue to support the team back at their home base in Boulder, Colorado.

Grant Motors Racing would like to thank Sun Enterprises in Denver, Colorado, who have supported their racing program since day one, as well as Vortex, Shoei Helmets, Moto Liberty RS Taichi, Boulder Motorsports, Speedin Motorsports, and 64 Degree Racing.
