Wrench Motorcycles Ducati Superbike rider Cam Petersen made the jump to light speed earlier this week when he went 197.4 miles per hour to record the highest trap speed out of anyone who participated in the Dunlop Pre-Season Test at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. If you’re a Star Wars fan, a movie buff, or someone who pays attention to pop culture, you probably recognize the title above as a quote from Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV). It was Han Solo’s retort to Ben Kenobi when Old Ben dared to question the performance capabilities of the Millennium Falcon.

You know the Millennium Falcon, of course. “It’s the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.”

Wrench Motorcycles Superbike rider Cam Petersen is racing former Superbike Champion Josh Herrin’s Ducati Panigale V4 R this year. It’s the same bike on which Herrin won seven races last year and very nearly won back-to-back Superbike Championships.

And, while Warhorse HSBK Ducati Flo4Law’s Cameron Beaubier and Benjamin Smith, along with Rahal Ducati Moto’s PJ Jacobsen, anxiously wait to swing their legs over the all-new 2026 Ducati Panigale V4 R, Petersen was at the Dunlop Pre-Season Test at Circuit of The Americas earlier this week, and he was quite pleased to be racing Herrin’s former Superbike.

“I can’t feel my hands!” That may be what Cam Petersen is saying to his “old man” Robbie Petersen, who is also his crew chief this season. Photo by Brian J. Nelson.

Petersen’s competition number is “45,” and that’s about what the average ambient temperature was for the majority of the two-day test.

“My hands were really cold on the bike,” Petersen said. “So, that made things a little more interesting.”

You know what else was interesting?

Despite the cold, all the bikes on track during the test were absolutely hauling the mail. Superbike, Supersport, Mission King Of The Baggers, Superbike Cup, and Talent Cup. Cold hands, be damned, the riders in every class and in every session were still twisting the throttles on their motorcycles.

And no one twisted it more than Cam P., who recorded the fastest trap speed out of anyone at the test.

197.4 miles per hour, to be precise.

Fast enough, indeed.
