Former Royal Enfield Build.Train.Race. competitor Sonya Lloyd continues her ascension as a professional motorcycle road racer.

After competing in the MotoAmerica Twins Cup Championship in 2024 and dipping her toe in the final round of the 2024 FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR), Lloyd signed a deal with Team Trasimeno to race in all six rounds of this past year’s WorldWCR.

This season, she has returned to her native United States of America, and she is competing once again in the Twins Cup Championship, but for 2026, she is aboard the #28 M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R as a member of Team Hammer, one of the longest-running and most storied race teams in the U.S.

No stranger to running at the front in MotoAmerica, Sonya is confident of not only scoring points on a regular basis but also challenging the frontrunners. Her goal is firmly set on finishing on the podium.

Capitalizing on the valuable insights she gathered from racing in the ultra-competitive World WCR, as spec racing class featuring identically prepared Yamaha YZF-R7 motorcycles, the University of Georgia engineering school graduate, who is set to turn 24 years old on April 10, made an impressive debut with M4 ECSTAR Suzuki at Daytona International Speedway, where she ran a solid top-10 pace and ultimately finished in a very respectable 14th position in the first Twins Cup race of the 2026 MotoAmerica season.

“I’m incredibly excited and grateful to officially be competing in the full Twins Cup season this year with the M4 ECSTAR Suzuki team,” Lloyd said. “This opportunity means the world to me, and I’m proud to be representing such a strong, established program with a history of success in MotoAmerica. From the moment I connected with the team, it was clear that we share the same goals and level of commitment. I’m confident in the package we’ve built together, and I’m ready to put in the work both on and off the track to deliver strong results throughout the season. This is a big step forward in my career, and I’m focused on making the most of it learning, improving, and pushing for top finishes every weekend. I’m grateful for the support from my team, partners, and everyone who continues to believe in me.”

Lloyd and her M4 ECSTAR Suzuki team will be back in action on April 17 through 19 as the MotoAmerica Championship makes its annual return to her home track of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
