This is what .009 of a second looks like. Sam Drane (59) beat Bodie Paige (65) by .009 of a second to win the first of two Parts Unlimited Talent Cup By Motul races at Road America in June. Oh, and Alessandro Di Mario (27) was third – just .040 of a second from victory. Photo by Brian J. Nelson

The amount of time that three seconds feels like varies entirely on the situation you find yourself in. When you’re a kid playing QB in a flag football game on your street, and the big kid from down the block comes rushing in at you with a “one 1000, two 1000, three 1000” it seems like a millisecond before he’s in your face and you’ve thrown your fifth interception of the day.

If you’re racing a Superbike at Road America and you get beaten by three seconds, it seems like an eternity.

In 2025, the average margin of victory in the 107 MotoAmerica races was just 3.149 seconds. That’s a case of one 1000, two 1000, three 1000. Race over.

If you watched all 107 of the MotoAmerica races in 2025, you might think that the average margin of victory would be less than 3.149 seconds. However, when Bobby Fong wins a couple of Superbike races by seven seconds and even 14 seconds, and Mathew Scholtz mixes in a victory or two over 10 seconds, it makes the 3.149 seconds even more impressive.

Because to make up for the rogue 14-second wins, you need some really close finishes. How about a .009 second margin of victory in Stock 1000 win at Road Atlanta by Andrew Lee over his OrangeCat Racing teammate Jayson Uribe? Or Sam Drane beating fellow Australian Bodie Paige to the line by the same margin of .009 of a second in Talent Cup action at Road America. That’ll do the trick.

Since we took the time to pour through the results of all the races held in 2025, we’ve opted to throw them at you.

The class that featured the closest average margin of victory?

That would be the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship with an average margin of victory for its 10 rounds of just 1.192 seconds. And that was just a tick less than the average margin of victory for the 14 Mission King Of The Baggers races, with the difference between winning and losing on the big V-Twins averaging out to only 1.211 seconds.

Stock 1000 completed the podium as far as average margin of victories go with 1.341 seconds for its 10 races.

The premier Superbike class raced 20 times in 2025 with an average margin of victory of 2.859 seconds while the youngest of the MotoAmerica racers were separated by an average of 3.130 seconds over the course of the Parts Unlimited Talent Cup By Motul series.

Supersport (3.226 seconds), Twins Cup (4.824 seconds), and Royal Enfield Build.Train.Race having the largest average margin of victory with 7.414.

The closest races of the 2025 series were the aforementioned Road Atlanta round of Stock 1000, with Lee topping his teammate Uribe by just .009 of a second, and Drane beating Paige by the same margin in Road America Talent Cup race one.

The largest margin of victory was Kira Knebel’s 33.971 victory in the second of three Royal Enfield Build.Train.Race battles at Ridge Motorsports Park.

The closest battle of the 20 Superbike races in 2025 was in race two of the season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park with Josh Herrin topping Cameron Beaubier by just .133 of a second.

The biggest blowouts of the 2025 Superbike season came at the hands of Bobby Fong at VIRginia International Raceway, with the Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing rider winning race one by a tick over seven seconds. In race two he doubled that, winning by over 14 seconds.
